Lots of families gathered in the sunshine to follow our Scarecrow Trail in aid of new play equipment for the village park. The trail led them via a series of clues from the Village Hall up to Kingsdown Park where the final clue to the trail could be found on a scarecrow family!

The event featured a best-dressed scarecrow competition. With lots of creative entries, it was a tough decision for judge Reverend Cathy Sigrist from St. John’s Church, Kingsdown. Kingsdown Toddler Group scooped first place with their Mr Tickle entry, with Sam and Ella Pleasance and Jemima and Arabella Bailey’s team effort of scarecrows coming in a close second.

Back at the hall, homemade cakes were served while the children enjoyed harvest-themed art and craft. Meanwhile, donations of food were collected for Deal Food Bank.

Thank you to Reverend Cathy and to all our hard working and enthusiastic committee and friends, who baked cakes or gave up their time to make sure the afternoon was such a success. We really appreciate the support of all the families who came along, and Deal-based Lollipop Ladies who supplied all the trail prizes.
