HELLO AND WELCOME
Friends of Kingsdown Play Park is a registered charity (no. 1165780) formed in 2015 by local parents with the support of Ringwould with Kingsdown Parish Council.
Our aim is to build an amazing new play park for Kingsdown on the site of the existing park. We intend to raise enough money through fundraising, grants and donations to create a fun space for the entire community.
We hope to completely rejuvenate the park, with lots of new children’s play equipment and extra seating areas for children and families to enjoy in a safe, stimulating setting.
The design will emphasise social interaction, activity, creativity and imaginative play; along with improved seating.
Accessibility to the park will also be greatly improved by making paths and entrances more suitable for those with impaired mobility, wheelchair users and pushchairs.
We'd love to hear from you. If you can support us in anyway, have fundraising ideas or would simply like to find out more about what we're up to please get in touch via the Contact Us page.
HOW FAR WE'VE COME
In March 2015, a broad range of consultation was undertaken with local residents, particularly children and their families, to put together a design for our new park. Hundreds of signatures of support were also received. From there, letters of support from a number of local Councillors and donations from local businesses started to roll in. We organised regular fundraising events and applied for numerous grants.
In February 2016, we registered as a charity and continued to work tirelessly towards our goal. We raised enough funds at the end of 2016 to install a number of new pieces of play equipment into the park in Spring of the following year, completing Phase 1 of our project. Work commenced on the 24th April 2017 and the park re-opened the following month. We then raised a further £45,000 towards Phase 2 of the park which was installed in October 2018. New fencing was installed last November then we managed to raise a bit more to achieve our final goal of installing outdoor gym equipment which will be installed in the park during March 2019.
